dementia awareness
community info session

During Dementia Awareness Week, we welcomed community members to Emmy for a Dementia Awareness Information Session. The session was presented by Dementia Training Australia, with support from the Emmy Monash Foundation.

With dementia touching many families in our community, the session provided an important opportunity to build understanding and feel better equipped to support loved ones. The session explored different types of dementia, common signs and practical approaches to communication and care.

The wonderful turnout reflected just how important this conversation is. What began as an information session quickly became an engaging discussion, with attendees asking thoughtful questions, sharing experiences and exploring situations they may encounter in everyday life.

Most importantly, people left with useful tools and practical advice to help them better understand and connect with loved ones living with dementia. Sessions like these are invaluable in building a more informed, understanding and supportive community.
