What we do Navigating aged care Residential Aged Care Fees and Charges This table provides an overview of the main fees and charges applicable in aged care. These are effective as of January 2020. View Emmy's Pricing Policies Refundable Accommodation Deposit The RAD is a one-off lump sum payment made to the aged care provider that reflects the actual location and size of the residential room. Basic Daily Living Fee This is a general fee payable by all residents (Respite and Permanent), and is a government requirement. This fee is set at 85% of the single person rate of the full Australian Aged Care Pension. The Basic Daily Fee changes on a six monthly basis in line with pension increases. The Basic Daily fee is currently $51.63 per person, per day. Extra Service Fee Additional fees may apply if you choose a higher standard of accommodation or additional services. The Extra Service Fee provides for additional services or lifestyle extras, including higher standards of accommodation and food choices. The Extra Service Fee (charged as an addition to the Basic Daily Fee) is $28 per person per day at Emmy Monash. Means Tested Care Fees The Department of Human Services means tests all residents who enter a residential facility as a Permanent Resident. The Means Tested Care Fee is an extra contribution towards the cost of care that is determined by Centrelink and is based on a calculation of the resident’s income and assets. The Department of Human Services will advise of the exact daily amount (if any) a resident is required to pay. Means Tested Care Fees are payable in addition to Basic Daily Fees. Annual and Lifetime Caps There are Annual and Lifetime Caps that apply to the Means Tested Care Fee. Once these caps are reached, you cannot be asked to pay any more means-tested fees. The following caps apply to Means Tested Fees: Annual Caps There is an Annual Limit on the maximum amount you can be asked to pay in a Means Tested Care Fees.This annual limit is $27,754.52. Once you have reached this amount, the Australian Government will pay the rest of your Means Tested Care Fees to Emmy Monash. Lifetime Caps There is a Lifetime Cap on Means Tested Care Fees in residential care of $66,610.90. Once you have reached this cap you will not have to pay any further income or Means Tested Care Fees during your lifetime.
