News Recent events Mazal Tov to our Heart of Emmy recipients Like thread to fabric, our volunteers are such a valuable part of Emmy. They make a huge difference in our residents’ lifestyle and provide an essential connection to the community. This year, we’re delighted to award the Heart of Emmy to Pam Gelfand, Jenny Jana, Graham Solomon, Ivor Herz, and Martin Israel. Pam Gelfand for tirelessly running the virtual Busy Bodies exercise program. Her fun and quirky sessions never fail to engage our residents in a positive way. Jenny Jana for the ongoing practical help she provides. Whether it’s taking residents to dental or medical appointments, or keeping regular contact with residents without families, she’s always there for those who need her. Graham Solomon for his exemplary support offsite. He helped with the printing and delivering of Haggadot Yizkor booklets as well as Machzorim for synagogue services. He also purchased trees for Tu B’ Shvat and supported our staff as we modified cultural and religious programs. Ivor Herz for keeping the fun and laughter going. He ran two virtual bingo sessions each week during the lockdown and built lovely virtual connections with residents, especially those in our Victor Smorgon Charitable Fund High Dependency Unit. Martin Israel for providing wooden art templates during festivals and special occasions to support our residents’ art programs and wellbeing.
