Four well-deserving Emmy volunteers have received Community Awards presented by the City of Glen Eira for their fantastic support of Emmy over many years. The contribution of each volunteer brings something unique and special to our residents. Volunteers share their skills, their time and their passion for making a difference directly in their engagement with residents or supporting the many functions which go into making our programs so successful.
We would like to honour:
Rosemary Korngold for 20 years of special service, in so many ways from administration to the librarian to instigating the Travelling Library outreach program.

Graham Solomon for 10 years of special service, is an exceptional volunteer who is always ready to help out no matter the task.

Hayley Krongold for 1000 hours of service in many roles, but always building social connections with her residents and providing emotional support, which was so valuable during the past two years of the pandemic.

In addition, we nominated Ditta Libson, for the Glen Eira Citizen of the Year Award. Dita has volunteered at Emmy in many ways for the past eight years: ever-present throughout the week; one of the first volunteers to return on-site during COVID; Emmy’s Challah Queen; and most dedicated to her Bierman residents.

Ditta has been very unwell since the end of 2021 and has now sadly passed away. She knew about the Award nomination, and felt very privileged for being nominated and despite her illness, she always sent us her best wishes.

We say thank you to Rosemary, Graham, Hayley and Ditta and all our volunteers who support our programs. We couldn’t do the amazing things we do without them all.
