April Jewish Holidays Three important dates in the Jewish calendar, Yom Hashoah, Yom Hazikaron and Yom Haatzmaut were recognised appropriately. Yom Hashoah was commemorated with a respectful and dignified service. Returning guests, volunteer Dr Michael Cohen and Lisa Phillips, Jewish Holocaust Centre were onsite to support the service. This year Bialik College student, Joseph Waislitz joined us. Jo’s incredible rendition of Partisan’s song in Yiddish was especially moving. Fallen soldiers were honoured at the Yom Hazikaron service with special guest Rebecca Vayn, an Israeli Defence Force Lone Soldier and Young UIA Executive Member. The following day we celebrated Yom Ha’atzmaut - a highlight of 2021. We were joined by Zooz Dance Group and Oz Dance whose joyous energy and enthusiasm was infectious. Residents and staff laughed, danced and sang all day long, dressed in blue and white. Again, we thank our team, community partners and guests for their contribution to these days. A special thank you to our CCW team for ensuring that activities on these days ran smoothly, and that all programs were meaningful for residents. Like many residents, we were so pleased to be able to host these events after a hiatus in 2020. Other recent events
