Respite care What is respite care? Residential respite, also known as short-term care gives you the opportunity to temporarily move into an accredited aged care provider, where qualified staff will care for you. This can provide you or your loved ones with short-term relief. It's also a fantastic way to trial residential aged care before deciding to make a permanent change, as well as familiarise yourself with a particular facility. If you're eligible for residential respite, you can access up to 63 days of subsidised care in a financial year. My Aged Care provides more detail on the eligibility criteria for respite. Respite at Emmy Our low and high-level respite care has given many Jewish seniors and families the short-term support they need — and a taste of life at Emmy Monash. While in respite, you can take part in our lifestyle programs while socialising with other Emmy members. This gives you the chance to form meaningful connections during your time with us and experience the sense of community for which we are renowned. This financial year, over 60 people came for respite. Importantly, 23 respite patients chose to make Emmy Monash their permanent home.
